LISTEN TO THE FULL SHOW (sans music) HERE!
Hey folks! Week 2 we covered a really underappreciated gem of a third-person shooter. Spec Ops: The Line was a reboot of-sorts for the franchise, but didn’t garner the sales it needed to continue. The developers knew it wouldn’t sell super well, so they just set out to make the game they wanted to make, and it really shows in the final product. The soundtrack is especially standout alongside the subversive narrative, compiling music from and inspired by the Vietnam War-era time period. It also blends in some licensed post-rock tracks and some really solid original pieces by composer Elia Cmiral. Hope you enjoyed! And if you haven’t already, PLAY THIS GAME! It’s a relatively short run at about 8 hours and it really has some mature, thought-provoking themes.
